Using CBD Vapes and CBD Vape Juice

Published by Chris Dworkin on Jan 06, 2021

Everyone wants to know whether it's safe to vape CBD or not. This questions became most popular when the media broke the news of the government crackdown on companies like Juul, who manufacture nicotine filled e-cigarettes that have been targeting our children for years. We will describe some of the common differences between all of these items below.

Terpenes... What is a Terpene?

The word "terpene"has been getting thrown around quite a bit as of late. Is this something that you should know? You don't need to understand every scientific detail, but it's definitely good to understand it a high level. So let's get started.

Terpenes are a very large class of organic compounds that are produced by a variety of plants and even by some insects. The first thing that jumps out typically is the strong odor that these terpenes produce. When you see a plant/tree that is producing terpenes, if you look closely, you may notice the rosin on it. That rosin contains something called turpentine, which is where terpenes are extracted.

These terpenes are what give plants their distinct smells, their flavor and even their effect. Think about essential oils and how they make you feel. Essential oils are actually made up of terpenes. Essential oils are used widely as fragrances in perfumes, in traditional medicines as well as in aromatherapy.

Wedding cake and gelato. Both for pain. Both helped and FAST. Still using them once or twice a day as a supplement of oil and salve. My back is so much better!

Why Add Terpenes to CBD?

As I explained above, terpenes are extracted from the exact same glands in the plant that CBD itself comes from. The problem is, many sub-par extraction processes actually strip these beneficial compounds away. Quite often the variation in CBD quality is because of that.

As a vape product, the CBD and terpenes are aerosolized as you inhale, which means that the absorption rate is much higher than if you ingest your CBD. The CBD and terpenes hit your sublingual glands as the vapor passes through your mouth, it also gets directly into your bloodstream as vapor reaches the small blood vessels in your lungs. When it comes to immediately feeling the full effects of the hemp plant’s oil extract, there is no better delivery system.

Should I Vape or Ingest my CBD?

Let me start this section by saying, at Kigh, we chose to not use any of the ingredients I'm about to talk about. Our vape products are using a CBD distillate that is diluted with MCT, only to the point at which it will keep the distillate from crystalizing again. What does that mean? It means you don't have any unnecessary ingredients in your product.

Should I even consider vaping my CBD? This comes down to personal preference. Not everyone is interested in vaping for various reasons. Quite often it's because of ingredients that go into vape products on the market. In many cases, companies are using products such as vegetable glycerin (VG), propylene glycol (PG) or even polyethylene glycol (PEG), all of which have proven negative effects.

Some of the other concerns about vaping when these ingredients are present, has to do with the quality of the vape batteries used. Lower quality vape batteries do not provide a quality temperature control and makes it's possible to overheat these ingredients. The above mentioned ingredients have shown to product formaldehyde and Acetaldehyde(both carcinogens) when overheated.

Are CBD Vapes the Same as e-Cigarettes?

Many people have asked us recently if they will be able to continue to purchase CBD vape pens now that there is this huge government crackdown on Juul and other e-cigarette producers. The short and simple answer is yes you can. CBD vape products are completely different from what you've heard about on the news. The most important factors to consider, at for us at Kigh, is that we do not use nicotine in any of our products. We also do not use potentially dangerous ingredients in our products such as those referenced above.
